Grenache Blanc is another grape variety seemingly planted all around the Mediterranean. There’s something about being close to the sea and spending all that time under the sunny skies that makes the grapes happy.
More and more has been planted in Santa Barbara County over the past decade and more people are discovering that it makes wines that are extremely versatile, when it comes to wine/food pairing.
We like it with grilled seafood, chicken, or pork. Are you noticing a theme here? Grenache Blanc plays nicely with things cooked over flames. So pull out your grillin' mitts!
As with most of the world’s top Grenache Blancs, you’re going to discover some unexpected sensations in the Consilience bottling; red apples and spice ride on top of light minerally and flintiness. This wine receives 14 months aging in neutral French oak barrels, so the finish is long and complex, but not at all heavy (that’s what makes this wine so ideal with grilled food).
