Tasting Notes:

In France, rosé outsells white wine. Here in the States, people are catching on to the fact that rosé (not to be confused with the sticky sweet pink sold in boxes at supermarkets) is both fabulous and festive. Our Grenache Rosé was barrel fermented and aged 7 months in neutral French oak allowing the fruit to take center stage. Its aromas and flavors of strawberry, rose petals, and watermelon make it a perfect companion to flips flops, tank tops, and sunshine. Enjoy this easy-drinking wine during warm weather or when you’re wishing it was summer! While this rosé is wonderful without food it also pairs well with Thai green curried chicken, seafood paella, or Texas-style barbecued ribs. It also pairs especially well with a sunny day and a poolside chaise lounge.

Varietal Characteristics:

Grenache is a light to medium bodied red wine with an initially chalky texture that has flavors of cherry cola, licorice. With air, this grape has a tendency to evolve in the glass. Each sip reveals a new perception. The color of the wine is determined by the grapes' skins, not the juice. For rosé, winemakers crush red grapes; then, by soaking the grapes for a few hours or even days, the juice gets to work softening the grape skins in order to extract their pigment.

Vineyard Source:

Estelle Vineyard in the Happy Canyon AVA is a warm climate zone in the Santa Ynez Valley. This vineyard site is optimal for many Italian grape varieties allowing full flavor development.
